After attending VeeamON 2018 in Chicago in May, what did we come away with?
Well, Veeam continue to grow at a frightening pace, fast becoming a $1bn software business. Their install base exceeds 300,000 customers globally and their Net Promoter score of 74 shares the stage with some of biggest brands in the world.
They have continued to expand their impressive Ecosystem consisting of Alliance Partners such as Microsoft, Amazon and IBM; and Storage Vendors including HPE, DELL-EMC, NETAPP and more recently IBM, Lenovo and Tegile. Working with these partners is driving Veeam business into both Mid-Market and Enterprise Customers.
Veeam’s vision and strategy is to become the leading provider of intelligent data management solutions in a world where data is growing at exponential rates, is highly distributed and where hyper-availability is desired.
So, what is Hyper Availability? Peter McKay – Co CEO & President of Veeam, described this as ‘The Intelligence Revolution’ the 4th Industrial Revolution following on from Steam, Electricity & Computing. It is predicted that Data will grow 10 fold over the next 5 years and its data which is driving digital life. Therefore, Veeam are building their platform to address;
Hyper Criticality – for businesses that cannot afford downtime.
Hyper Growth – to protect this ever-growing explosion of data.
Hyper Sprawl – to protect data wherever it resides, on premise, in the Cloud or across multiple Clouds, on SaaS platforms or a hybrid of all of the above.
The platform itself has evolved over the past eighteen months with the release of Veeam Availability Orchestrator, Veeam Availability Console, Veeam Backup for Office 365, Windows and Linux agents, support for AIX and Solaris and more recently the pending releases of the Nutanix AHV backup. Put together with the acquisition of N2WS for AWS availability you can see how serious Veeam are about fulfilling the promise of the vision laid out during the event.
